In the 19th Century the Church of England established the principle of regular inspection of Parsonage House which was ultimately developed into The Inspection of Churches Measure, 1955, which extended this principle to apply to all church property.
The Quinquenial Report is the key document that guides the Parochial Church Council (PCC) in the care and repair of a church building, for which it is legally responsible. It gives an overview of the repair needs of the building, and lists the repairs required according to their priority. St Nicholas Biddestone was inspected for its Quinquennial in Dec 21.
